I had not been to the meeting hall of the CEC before. Everything was carefully curated, from the furniture, to the position of the chairs, upholstery, etc. Even the officials and representatives of the parties were dressed up. The only ones who contrasted were us, the activists of the TOGETHER Movement, who had just left the discussions with the citizens on the street to wait for the decision on the recognition of the party. With one stroke of the pencil, the commissioner approved the electoral registration of Rama's SP and Meta's PL. Then the telenovela of the two PD parties started, fighting for a stamp and a piece of the chairman. The last, in terms of order and apparently also in terms of importance, were us.
A collared man read aloud the proposal that the Spain Phone Number List TOGETHER Movement should not be registered in the elections because it lacked a final decision from the court. After him I took the floor and pointed out the fact that the Electoral Code (Article 64, point 1) requires the court to have made a decision on the registration of a party and not to have actually completed its registration (which happens 15 days after receiving of the decision, when it formally takes the final form). I also reminded the commissioner that the same institution, the CEC, had registered the Democratic Persuasion in 2019, although they had not even delivered the court's decision on time (which we had already done on March 6).
I added, on the other hand, that the reason for the delay in making the final decision was not our responsibility, but the irresponsibility of the court which, instead of expressing itself on February 9, had made the decision on March 2. In this sense, one of the basic principles of law could not be violated, according to which no one can be punished or deprived of a right without being guilty. My arguments didn't bat an eyelash, they didn't influence the opinion of Ilirjan Celibashi, who, champion of logical paradoxes, said in the same sentence that we were right and that we were wrong. Even though he didn't know any precedent (such as that of 2019), even though he referred to another precedent (that of 2015).
